SECRET RECIPE: SHAKEY’S 🍕 

Bringing in the weekend we have a great recipe for Shakey’s famous mozzarella cheese sticks.

Ingredients:

• Mozzarella cheese sticks

• Flour

• Eggs (beaten)

• Breadcrumbs

• Italian seasoning

• Vegetable oil (for frying)

• Marinara sauce (for dipping)

  Instructions: Cut the mozzarella cheese sticks into smaller pieces if desired. Coat each piece in flour, then dip in beaten eggs, and coat in breadcrumbs mixed with Italian seasoning. Freeze the coated cheese sticks for about 30 minutes. Fry the cheese sticks in hot vegetable oil until golden brown and crispy. Serve with marinara sauce for dipping.

Interesting Facts About Gino’s

• Gino's was founded by NFL Hall of Famer Gino Marchetti, along with Alan Ameche, Louis Fischer, and Joe Campanella, in 1957.

• The first Gino's location was in Baltimore, Maryland.

• The restaurant chain was known for its fast-food burgers, including the famous Gino's Giant, a competitor to the Big Mac.

• Gino's had a unique deal with Colonel Sanders, founder of Kentucky Fried Chicken, and the Gino's locations were some of the first in the Northeast to sell KFC products.

• At its peak, Gino's had over 350 locations across the United States.

• The company slogan was "Everybody goes to Gino's" and later "Gino's, a beautiful place to be."

• In 1982, the Marriott Corporation bought the Gino's chain for $48.6 million and subsequently converted most of the Gino's locations into Roy Rogers restaurants.
