FDA Shares Names of Stores With Bad Food Products
Recently, a lot of stores got over 110 food products that have been recalled by the Food and Drug Administration. These products might have Listeria, a germ that can make you really sick. The foods came from Rizo Lopez in Fresno, California. Big stores like Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, and Costco received these products, but there might be even more stores that got them which aren't on the list yet.
We're talking about all sorts of foods that have been recalled, not just cheese, but also things like dips, salad dressings, enchiladas, and more. There are pictures and a list of these 113 different recalled products out there so people can check them out.
The problem with these foods is serious. Since 2014, 26 people got sick because of this outbreak. Sadly, two of those people died. The sick people live in 11 states all over the country—from Washington to Florida.
When someone gets sick from Listeria, it can be tough to figure out because it might take up to 70 days to show. Health experts try to talk to people about what they ate, but it's hard to remember food that far back. That's why tests in the lab are super important.
Know About Listeria
Listeria is this sneaky germ because the food it's in might look and smell just fine but it can still make you super sick or even threaten your life. If you've eaten any of the recalled products and feel sick, you should definitely see a doctor and let them know you might have eaten something with Listeria.
Since it can take a long time for the sickness to show up, keep an eye on how you feel for a few weeks. The signs that you're sick from Listeria can include throwing up, feeling sick to your stomach, having a fever that won't go away, hurting muscles, a really bad headache, and a stiff neck.
Doctors have special tests to find Listeria because it can look like other sicknesses. The people who really need to be careful are pregnant ladies, older people, little kids, and anyone who's not feeling strong—like if they are fighting cancer.
For pregnant women, the sickness can be kind of like the flu, but it can cause some really sad problems like having the baby too early, the baby getting sick, or even losing the baby before it's born.
Remember, it's really important to check if you have any of these recalled foods at home and to be aware of your health if you think you've eaten any of them. Stay safe, everyone!
